Today is the day!
I’ve been so anxious to reveal the updated bedroom and one thing after another has put me behind. But now I finally feel like it’s complete. Our bedroom had most of the furniture but needed a little creativity to bring it to life. By updating the bedding, drapery, wall decor, and some additional pieces, the room has completely transformed from “ok” to my dream room.

In my last post I shared the before pictures of the space along with the design concept. If you missed it and want to check it out, you can see it here. Before every design I create a concept board that sets the tone and direction for the room. As you can see, the final design didn’t stray too far from the original concept.
My goal was to create a calm and elegant space that’s bright and inviting. Overall, I’m beyond thrilled with the outcome of the room. I incorporated just about every idea shown on the concept board, with exception to the bench. I did get a bench, but loved the new area rug so much that I didn’t want to cover it. You’ll see what I mean here in a second!
So how about this this area rug! I had no idea how much of a difference it was going to make. I’m not a fan of our carpet but we can’t afford to change it so an area rug was the perfect fix. And the best part was the price! If you’re looking for a good quality rug on a budget, I recommend looking at this one.
These Mirrors….can I just say, I’m in love with them! They are EXACTLY what I had in mind and was so excited when I came across TWO at Home Goods. If you love them as much as I do, you can find them on Wayfair.
The bedding went from busy patterns to a subtle and soft white linen with ruffles. I wanted it for so long but was too afraid that white was a bad idea with a black lab who is constantly snuggling in bed. But I finally gave in and got it and I’m so glad I did! I have to be a bit more careful, but I love how the white bedding softens the space.
The new bedside lamps are from Pottery Barn and were the perfect fit for the space. I wanted to break up all the wood and I liked the contrast of the white.
The highlight of the bed is this gorgeous bolster pillow by Bella Notte that I found at Lavender Fields. The gorgeous gray lace adds so much romance and character to the space. It comes in multiple colors and I had the hardest time picking, but I ultimately decided gray worked best with the room. A big thank you to Lavender Fields for generously providing this pillow and being so wonderful to work with!
Another update that made a world of difference was the ruffled linen bedskirt. I searched high and low for this bad boy and had it custom made by 3H Linen. They did such a fabulous job and were so incredibly sweet to work with! I wanted a slight puddle for the bedskirt and so I added an extra 2 inches to the length. It turned out even better than I imagined!
We painted the walls a soft white called Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. I painted the whole downstairs the same color and loved it so much I decided to use it for the bedroom also. Don’t look too closely though, I painted the room myself. But that’s the best part of painting white, it’s very forgiving!
After a long search for the perfect piece, I came across this antique chest of drawers on offer up. It’s amazing what a little paint can do. Above the chest is a sunburst mirror I found at World Market. To the left of the mirror are framed architectural prints I brought back from Greece when we traveled there last summer.
These candlesticks make their way around each room in our home. I just can’t get enough of them!
Doesn’t this bed make you want to jump in? It’s even more cozy than it looks thanks to the down pillows and soft linen.
Just a couple changes and our bedroom has transformed to our dream room. Of course I still have things on the to-do list, but for now, it’s perfect for us. Do you have any rooms that you want to update but find yourself stuck not knowing how to start? I’d love to help!
