Welcome friends!
Today I’m taking you on a tour of a home I decorated this past year. I’m so happy with how it turned out and hope you like it too! The home was already beautiful, but it needed some style and personality. That’s where I come in!
My client wanted to brighten up the space so it felt warm and inviting, and that’s just what we did. We got rid of all the heavy brown and busy patterns and replaced them with ivory tones, soft aqua blues, and elegant prints. Several rustic pieces remained, but we updated all the furniture, lighting, and decor, all together creating a coastal cottage feel.
But, enough of my rambling, go ahead and see it for yourself! And get ready to be amazed, because these before and after pictures are almost unrecognizable. I hope you enjoy the tour!

I don’t know if you can tell from these pictures, but this living room is LARGE. I love the stone fireplace and paneled ceilings, but the furniture was too dark and bulky. We really needed some lighter furniture, but still size appropriate so they didn’t feel lost in the open space. We designed these custom sofas and opted for the extra long one (103″) which seemed like a risky move, but was a great decision based on the rooms layout. A sectional would cut the room off, but two sofas extended the space, making a better use of it. And with a family of 5 and 2 dogs, they need as much seating as possible!
Across from the sofa we added a pair of chairs, creating a perfect conversation area for family time, game nights, and entertaining. The large sofas also called for an oversized coffee table. This one is 60″x40″ (about the size of my dining table). We really needed one that large in order to be able to center it on the long sofa, while also staying center on the adjacent sofa. I know, I’m a bit OCD when it comes to space planning.
These adorable storage ottomans were a fun way to bring in some patterns without being too busy. Whenever it’s time for game night, all you have to do is pull the games out from the ottomans and push them up to the table.
Unfortunately, I can’t find a before image of this view, but it originally had eight black stools with tall backs. They were busy and distracting, so we opted for backless stools that were more subtle and blended with the space. I also wanted your eye to be drawn to the dining area which is where we’re headed next.
My client loved the mirror and I thought the table color was fun, so we worked around the two and brought in a new rug, chandelier, and end chairs. We painted the dining chairs and reupholstered the bottoms so they were more comfortable. The lighter colors really made a difference, don’t you think?
The formal dining room was originally not part of the plan, but after seeing everything else come together, we decided it needed a little sprucing up! We lightened up the wall color, updated the window treatments, bought a new rug, and accessorized. The highlight of the dining room is this gorgeous art piece commissioned for the family by Stephie Jones Art. She designed this painting specifically for the space, based on our color scheme and my clients personal requests. It turned out beautifully and has become the focal point of the room and one of the first things you see when entering the home.
This boho teen room was a fun project I shared this past year. If you haven’t checked it out, you can see more here.
That’s it for today! But stay tuned, we’re in the process of updating the master bedroom and I hope to share that next. Follow along on social media and subscribe below so you don’t miss it! As always, thank you SO much for stopping by. I’m so glad you did!
