Flowers are in bloom and the warm sun is shining through the canopy of trees, reminding me that summer is nearly here and it’s time to enjoy the outdoors.
Today I’m taking you on a tour of our backyard living space and highlighting my outdoor living essentials. Follow along to get ideas and sources so you can create your own outdoor oasis this summer!
1. Comfortable Seating
Blending comfort, style, and durability in an outdoor space is my priority, and it can sometimes prove to be a challenge. That’s why I turned to my friends at Safavieh because they have so many great furniture options. I wanted a cushioned sectional that I could lounge on so the Madalina living set was the perfect fit. You can shop my sectional here and check out more of my furniture favorites below.

2. Umbrellas
Umbrellas are a must-have if you don’t have a covered patio/deck. They’re obviously great for providing shade, but I also love that they shield you from the less desirable aspects of trees- like bird poop and pinecones. This adorable fringed umbrella from Safavieh not only plays its part in protecting the furniture, but also brightens up our outdoor space. Shop more umbrella styles below.
I lucked out by finding this white conversation set on facebook marketplace and paired it with these storage ottomans from Target. They’re perfect for storing the furniture covers and pillows.
3. Rugs
Rugs can instantly make an outdoor space feel more inviting. They’re also an easy way to incorporate color and patterns. I chose this light blue trellis patterned rug for the lounge area because I liked it’s subtle design paired with the striped cabana cushions. Coordinating the dining area rug with the same soft blue in a chevron pattern, I like to have a variety of patterns, but also keep the colors consistent so it flows nicely.
4. Dining Furniture
Our dining set is paired with these chairs from Target (color discontinued) and a discontinued white table from Lowes. Sometimes it’s fun to have a little variety with the furniture pieces. I’ve linked some of my favorite dining sets, chairs, and tables for you to shop below.
The white fringed umbrella is rectangular to cover the dining area and coordinates with the umbrella above the conversation set across the way.
Planters & Garden Stools
Bring the backyard to life with your favorite flowers or plants. Layers of greenery and vibrant colors are sometimes just what the space needs to feel finished. I’ve accumulated a variety the past couple years and I love watching them come back every season. Most of my planters are from Home Goods, but the trellis garden stool is from Safavieh. I also like incorporating faux floral like this Magnolia tree that I placed near our dining area.
