In my home you’ll find a variety of old and new pieces, but you might have a hard time distinguishing between the two. Most of my furniture is designed to look like an antique, and some are thrift store finds that have been refreshed with some TLC. I’m attracted to vintage inspired pieces because of their character and story, which is one of the reasons why I like french country style so much.
Today I’m sharing a french inspired reading nook I designed with furniture and decor from Walmart’s Vintage Chic line. I teamed up with Walmart for this project to show you all the awesome things available in their Shop by Style program. They have so many great antique- inspired options to choose from! Needless to say, it was a struggle narrowing down my favorites. In the end, I’m so happy with how the space came together and hope you like it too!

This settee is my favorite addition. I’ve had my eye on it for over a year now. It’s the perfect size for a small space like this, and would also be great at the end of a bed, in an entry way, or even a dining room.
I found this accent table at a thrift store and covered painted it. The table blends perfectly with the settee style and brings a soft contrast. I found some similar options that you can shop below!
I layered this subtle, gray and white rug to make the space feel cozy and inviting. Rugs are a great way to bring color and texture into a home.
You can shop these architectural prints by Restoration Art Prints here . They’re the perfect, neutral backdrop for any space. I’ve found if I keep my wall decor neutral, it works well with any pop of color I add!

The reading nook is charming! Would you comment on the comfort of the settee as well as the size?

Hi Rosa,
I love the settee! It’s bigger than I anticipated, which was nice. It’s also pretty cozy with a couple pillows and blankets, but probably not for lounging around.
Hope that helps!
