Welcome, and come on in! You may not recognize the space upon entering. A few changes have been made, and just in time for the holidays.
Today I’m excited to walk you through and share what I’ve been up to, along with some timeless Christmas decorating inspiration.
The Entry
The first thing you may notice is that there’s color on the walls! Yes, I do occasionally stray from my white walls, and when I do, it’s good. This paint color is Contented by Sherwin Williams. I painted my master bathroom with it and loved it so much, I decided to paint the entry as well. I love how it makes the crown molding details pop, while staying soft and subtle.

Garland
Nearly every mirror in our home is covered with garlands or wreaths during Christmas time. This mirror isn’t too big, so small garland on top was the perfect fit. An ivory silk bow adds a playful touch, while the assortment of tabletop Christmas trees brings a festive flair. White roses with mixed winter greens are the first thing you see when you walk in, setting an elegant tone. I added the small ottoman to bring an extra layer of dimension and love how it all pulls together.
To the left of the front door you’ll find an antique crystal and brass candelabra sconce hanging above a french cane side chair. I wanted to make the space feel more formal and love how this added some personality to a previously overlooked corner.
Formal Living Room
Now on to the formal living room, which is officially my favorite room in the house for reasons you’ll see here in a moment…
The Sofa
This space boasts of personality. From the fringed sofa, to the sunburst mirror, each detail makes the room interesting and pulls you in to look around.
But let’s talk about the sofa…I found this Sherrill sofa on facebook marketplace for a steal and couldn’t believe it was the exact sage green color as my curtains! I’d had my eye on a fringed sofa for so long but they were always way more than I wanted to spend, so I added this bullion fringe from amazon to make my own. I used fabric tape which gave me peace of mind if I decide to take it off, but now I love it so much, I may use a more permanent method to attach it. Watch the process of me adding the fringe here.
The Chandelier
We also added a chandelier. I wanted something that didn’t hang too low to interfere with the mirror, but also wanted something bigger than a semi flush. This french satin brass chandelier filled the space perfectly.
The Christmas Tree
Now on to the Christmas tree… I used the same sage silk beaded ribbon that I used on our bedroom tree and mixed it with champagne gold magnolia leaves, gold berries, and a soft gold ribbon. I love how it’s gold decor coordinates with the gold accents throughout the room. An assortment of mercury glass, white, and gold ornaments completes the elegant look.
Holiday Wreath
Our large Trumeau mirror is the perfect size for hanging a wreath! I love the classic look of a cedar wreath with a monogrammed wreath sash.
While I wish all my floral was real, these paperwhites are definitely not. I dabbled at growing paperwhites in the past and found out that I just wasn’t blessed with a green thumb, so these faux gems were an answer to prayers. I love a classic holiday paperwhite, don’t you?
Hope this post is inspiring you with ideas on how to bring the holiday spirit into your home this Christmas!
